About

Our Story

Proudly founded by Global Travel Alliance in 2012, Global Doing Good (GDG) is an independent non-profit that continues to uphold its mission of providing accessible and educational experiences to students from all walks of life. From our first needs-based educational travel scholarships given to our current program offerings, we aim to touch countless individuals' lives by inspiring a sense of curiosity, compassion, and global citizenship.

Our Mission & Vision

Global Doing Good partners with educators to provide unique learning experiences that inspire young people to better their communities and, in turn, better themselves. Our vision is to see all young people, no matter their background, inspired to be informed citizens who make service a lifelong commitment.

What We Do

Gift of Travel Scholarships (GIVE)

GDG partners with educators who nominate students who would benefit from their schools' middle school U.S. Civics Trip but may not have the resources. Once nominated, students must write an essay demonstrating an understanding of one of the three values: service, integrity, or leadership. As a stipulation for receiving the grant, recipients are required to write a one-page reflection about their trip upon completion, and they are encouraged to include a note of thanks to the sponsors who made their trip possible.

The Benjamin Project (DO)

GDG empowers the next generation of global citizens to take action locally. Educators nominate up to 10 students per semester to receive $100 seed funding to go and do good in their community. Students have 90 days to complete the project and report on their experiences. Outside of identifying students, educators remain “hands-off,” allowing the students' creativity and resourcefulness to identify a cause, create a plan, and multiply funds to make a broader impact in their community.

Service Learning Trips (GO)

GDG offers Service Learning Trips that are designed to delve deeper into service by providing experiences in a cross-cultural setting. These trips are geared towards previous Benjamin Project participants, students eager to serve beyond their community, or those interested in exploring a future career within the nonprofit sector. Service Learning Trips are tailored to cultivate a lifelong commitment to making a difference locally and globally.
