Frequently Asked Questions

Educator FAQ

How many students can participate each year?

The typical group size is 10 students.

How long do my students have to complete their projects?

Our general guideline is for students to wrap up their programs within 90 days.

What are my responsibilities as an educator leading the program?

The main responsibilities include identifying participating students, distributing project cards, and monitoring student progress. GDG will send updates so you know where each student is at. Other things that are helpful for a successful program include kicking off the program with a meeting and doing periodic check-ins to monitor student progress.

What happens after I distribute the project cards?

Students are prompted to register their cards on our website via the Student Registration form with parent/guardian approval. GDG is notified and we confirm that they are a participating student. Once verified, GDG notifies the parent and you via email that the card has been activated and the student can get started on their project.

What do students need to do to finish their projects?

Once students complete their projects, they’ll report back to share the impact they had plus any reflections from their project. The Participation Experience form is on our website.

I’m leading some check-in meetings to monitor student progress. What are some discussion questions I could consider?
  • What progress have you made since we last met?
  • What challenges have you encountered, and how did you overcome them?
  • What have you learned so far?
  • Do you need to make any adjustments to finish the project?
  • Is there any additional support you need?
  • What could you do to continue your project’s impact beyond its completion?

Student FAQ

What are some helpful tips for The Benjamin Project?

We encourage you to think outside the box on ways you can impact your communities!

  • Are there ways I can grow my $100 to have a greater impact?
  • Who can I collaborate with for my project (personal connections, organizations, businesses, family, friends, classmates, etc)?
  • What community needs inspire you? Whose lives could be improved? What do I care about?

Remember to capture photos/videos to include with your final reflection!

I just received my project card—how do I get started?

Once you receive your project card, register it on our website via the Student Registration form with parent/guardian approval. GDG is notified and confirms your participation. Once verified, we email your parent/guardian and your educator that the card has been activated so you can begin your project.

How soon can I start using my project card once I submit the registration form?

It typically takes one business day to verify your participation and activate the card. Activations are processed during our business hours (Monday–Friday). If you register after hours or on a weekend, activation occurs the next business day.

After activation, funds take about a day to load—so you can usually start using your card the following day.

I need a PIN to use my card—what should I use?

If you’re asked for a PIN with your Jassby Card, use the last 4 digits of the Lot Number printed on the back of the card just below the card number (in smaller print). Sometimes the PIN can be bypassed by choosing the credit option.

How can I check my card balance?

There’s a QR code on the back of the card—scan it to view your balance.

My card is still not working after using the PIN—what should I do?

Email our team at thebenjaminproject@globaldoinggood.org and we’ll look into it.

I have spent my project funds and finished my project. How do I complete The Benjamin Project?

Once your project is wrapped up, report back with a reflection and the impact you had. Complete the Participation Experience form on our website.
