About Global Doing Good

Our Story

Proudly founded by Global Travel Alliance in 2012, Global Doing Good (GDG) is an independent non-profit that continues to uphold its mission of providing accessible and educational experiences to students from all walks of life.

From our first needs-based educational travel scholarships to our current program offerings, we aim to touch countless individuals’ lives by inspiring a sense of curiosity, compassion, and global citizenship.

Our Mission & Vision

Global Doing Good partners with educators to provide unique learning experiences that inspire young people to better their communities and, in turn, better themselves. Our vision is to see all young people, no matter their background, inspired to be informed citizens who make service a lifelong commitment.

What We Do

Three integrated programs — Give, Do, Go

Each program meets students where they are and trusts them to lead — from a first scholarship trip to a cross-cultural service experience.

Give

Founders Scholarship

We partner with educators who nominate students who would benefit from their school’s middle school U.S. Civics Trip but may lack the resources. Nominees write an essay on one of three values — service, integrity, or leadership — and reflect on their trip upon completion.

Do

The Benjamin Project

Educators nominate up to 10 students per semester to receive $100 in seed funding to go and do good in their community. Students have 90 days to identify a cause, create a plan, and multiply funds for broader impact — while educators stay hands-off.

Grinnell Expeditions

Cross-cultural service experiences geared toward previous Benjamin Project participants, students eager to serve beyond their community, or those exploring a future in the nonprofit sector — cultivating a lifelong commitment to making a difference locally and globally.
