Grinnell Expeditions: service that crosses borders

Our Grinnell Expeditions are designed to delve deeper into service by providing experiences in a cross-cultural setting. These trips are geared towards previous Benjamin Project participants, students eager to serve beyond their community, or those interested in exploring a future career within the nonprofit sector.

Grinnell Expeditions are tailored to cultivate a lifelong commitment to making a difference — locally and globally.

What participants have done in the past

Every trip is shaped around a real community need. On past Grinnell Expeditions, students have rolled up their sleeves to:

Build homes for families in need

Working alongside local builders and families, students helped construct safe, dignified housing — one wall, one roof at a time.

Maintain and repair schools

Participants provided much-needed maintenance to schools — restoring spaces where the next generation learns and grows.

Plant trees for reforestation

Students planted trees to support reforestation efforts, leaving behind a living, growing contribution to the local environment.

Grinnell Expeditions go beyond the act of service itself.

Through meaningful engagement with local communities, participants gain insights into what service truly means within different cultural contexts.

By engaging in reflective discussions and interactions with locals, we aim to empower young individuals to not only make a difference in their own communities, but also develop a broader sense of purpose and empathy that transcends geographical boundaries.

Ready to serve beyond your community?
