Weekly Roundup: October 1, 2026

Granting a child's dream wish and helping shelter pets find homes—see the remarkable ways our students are serving their communities! This week’s Benjamin Project features a Wisconsin student crafting dog toys and photographing adoptable pets, a Minnesota student raising over $1,000 for Make-A-Wish to grant a pink playhouse wish, and a Colorado student arranging flower bouquets for local workers. To top off the week, check out a reflection from a Montana student whose trip to Washington, D.C. deepened his civic understanding.
Alex - Wisconsin
Through my summer camp program, I came up with an idea for a youth service project, sponsored by Global Doing Good. Those who know me, know my love for dogs. My idea was to make dog toys with some of my camp friends. With the help of a photographer, we took photos of a few adoptable dogs to help them find their FURever homes. At Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary, my heart was filled with love from Brook, Boo, Coco, and Carly! I fell deeply in love and I think I might be the newest volunteer in the future. Despite my best efforts (and extra help from the dogs), my dad did not let me bring home any of the dogs, but I am glad that I can go back to visit them!
Taya - Minnesota
With my $100 I fundraised and asked people to donate for a little girl at Make A Wish who wanted a pink playhouse. In all I donated $1,020.
Lilienne - Colorado
With the $100 we received for the Benjamin project, we were able to buy flowers to make bouquets for many hard-working companies around our area, to help show our love and support for the people who help out our community and are pro-social. It was an amazing experience to be able to brighten someone's day.
Gannon - Montana
I would like to talk about my experiences and the lessons that I have learned during this trip. This trip turned out to be one of the most eye-opening and insightful experiences that I have had the opportunity to take part in. Going to Washington, D.C. has given me so much new knowledge and a better perspective on the inner workings of both our country and its history.
I believe that I will cherish and remember this trip for years to come. I will remember many things about this trip, such as the late nights with my friends, the stellar architecture of D.C., and even the solemnity of the many memorials. All of these experiences have taught me so much and have strengthened both my bonds with my classmates and my love for education. From the bottom of my heart thank you very much for the opportunity and support behind this trip.
